On the Road

As i am writing this I am traveling down a highway at seventy miles per hour. We're on our fifth day of a twenty five day tour and I am thinking of how I can organize my thoughts and intentions into something I can pull off in whichever city I'm in next. Could I have a lasting effect on a city that im going to be spending less than 24 hours in? Do I have the means to  bring together friends, family, neighbors and strangers in an attempt to present them the opportunity of self and communal growth?

Farm Livin' & Up-coming events!

I spent the month of june farming in the Pioneer valley with these lovely people in the picture above! It was an experience that I would reccomend to anyone interested in learning about organic farming, community supported agriculture, or sustainability in general. Their 30 day model is one that I think should be replicated with many other trades to give people with an interest in the work an opportunity to try out the lifestyle. The crew-leaders and other interns were all great people and great motivators, I am really looking forward to visiting the farm in august and helping them in their efforts!

As for up-coming events!

2nd Town Clean-Up!

A great success!  Twice as many people showed up! We cleaned the lot and rail road tracks next to the town hall, as well as the foot bridge, but there is still much to be done! So! Next Thursday (April 14) the Campaign will be cleaning Plains Park! We hope to see you there!

Here are some photos of todays clean up!

The Park Department of Danvers noticed our effort and said they will haul away any trash we pick up! They will also provide trash bags for the future clean ups! What nice people!

Also we got some more video footage, so keep checking back for a new video & updates

Weekly Newsletter, Friday April 1st 2011

                  Weekly News!
                    Friday April 1st 2011
There are quite a few efforts underway! At the moment, the main efforts are town clean-ups, arranging a free event in the Salem Commons, and street promotions. Lets think up some interactive projects to encourage people to share their art, music & ideas out on the street!
The town clean up series began Thursday March 31st at the Peabody Institute Library Mill Pond. The Campaign for the Growth of the Human Mind cleared the area of broken glass, plastics, and some nasty junk. We are planning to install a recycling bin that will be managed and decorated by the campaign, as recyclable cans and bottles seem to pile up at this location. The next clean up will be along Holten st. in Danvers. We are hoping to have at least 15 people for this next clean up, so we might get the whole street done in the 3 or 4 hours we have scheduled ( Thursday April 7th 2-5pm ) .
The Salem Commons is a location we’ve had our eye on for quite a while. The gazebo is a great stage for an artist or speaker, and being right in the middle of a city we hope to draw in the passerby. We are planning for a weekend in may and would like to incorporate as much local art and music as possible, so go ahead and inform your friends! We are looking into the possibility of having electric instruments but we are calling it an acoustic event until we get more information from town hall. There will be a brainstorm for this event on Saturday April 9th @ 3PM at the Peabody Institute Library in the Gordon Room.
As for street promotions, we are thinking of setting up a stand where we could put out art or science experiments, take polls, hand out handouts, play music for people, maybe even have some renown people there with us! We will be discussing this effort and the Salem commons event at the next brainstorming session on April 9th.

                               Hope to see you there!
